First three pulmonologists that I went to never ever explained anything about COPD, I had no idea at all what having it meant until my current pulmonologist (I started last spring to see him), and joining efforts. I know I was also in denial, but if I had known that this was a progressive disease and could only get worse, not better, then perhaps it would have shaken me up a bit to quit
smoking earlier. I do try not to focus on what could have been as it's now and I need to work with what I have here.  I just think it's so
irresponsible for doctors to tell you that you have a life shortening condition and never even explain that to you either!
