26. Here in The Philippines we don't have the same medical services as in the United States or other developed country. Since we are considered to be an underdeveloped country or a third world country our government, as well as private health care practices are not at par with those of the U.S. We are lucky enough to have specialist doctors and nurses, as well as therapists who
have gone abroad to have extensive educational background and practice their professions here. Our government does not even have a sufficient health care programs and the Department of Health and Social Welfare is sorely lacking in funds and expertise. The number one killer here in the Philippines is Tuberculosis, which is still a lung disease. Hopefully as our country progresses
and our leaders more attuned to the needs of the masses, we will put in place proper medication and programs which will alleviate our population. At the moment it is only the affluent who can afford to travel to the U.S. or other countries to have whatever ailments treated and diagnosed. While the rest have to suffer the lack of modern technology, equipment and know how to cope
with diseases such as ours.
