Susan Judish Nielsen, 65, died May 12, 2004 at Kavanagh House on 56th Street after a long struggle with COPD. A Memorial gathering will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 15 at the home of a friend. Please call Dunn's Funeral Home for directions. Her body has been donated to the University of Iowa Medical School in Iowa City.

Susan was a lifelong resident of Des Moines except for the years 1989 to 2001 when she lived in Bullhead City, Arizona. She was a real estate agent for First Realty and a member of the Junior League, PEO and Kappa Alpha Theta. After retirement, Susan became a blackjack dealer in Laughlin, Nevada.

She is survived by her daughters, Dawn (Bill) Oliver of Overland Park, KS, Debra (Rod) Pierson of North Liberty, IA, and Dana Judish (fiance Ali Denizman) of Chicago, IL; sister, Judy (Kent) Transier of Phoenix, AZ; three special friends, Pat McManus, Joyce Nation and Margaret Ann Baron, all of Des Moines; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Helen (Ellis) Wissler and son, David Judish.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kavanagh House on 56th Street.
