Mr. DiMartino was born December 23rd, 1935, in Torrington, son of the late Lillian and Joseph DiMartino, and Angelo Zaccagnino.

An avid reader and lifelong educator, Bob touched many lives.  He placed a high value on family and friends, and enjoyed spending time with both at his home on Highland Lake.

Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Dina Grant of Barkhamsted and Lori Gibb of Winsted; a son, Robert J. DiMartino of Winsted; and seven grandchildren who were the joy of his last years.  “Pop-pop” will be missed by all.

In 1963, Bob began his teaching career at Irving Robbins Middle School in Farmington. He spent the last twenty-plus years of his career teaching at Central Connecticut State University, where he mentored many future teachers.  Education was a way of life for him; a passion that he passed on to all three of his children. In addition to his career in education, he was active in Junior Achievement and served on the Winsted Board of Education for several years.  He was also owner of “The Pit Stop” Carwash in Winsted.
